Footwear Shipping to Philippines | China DDP Door to Door

  • Origin: Guangzhou, Jinjiang, Dongguan, China
  • Destination: Manila and provincial ports, Philippines
  • Service: DDP door to door, duty and VAT included
  • Mode: Sea freight LCL and FCL
  • Transit time: 12-18 days port to port, plus inland delivery
  • Cargo: Sneakers, leather shoes, boots, sandals, mixed size runs

A pair of shoes weighs very little and takes up a surprising amount of room. That single ratio decides how footwear is priced, packed and, more often than importers expect, how it is damaged.

Why Shoes Are Priced by Volume, Not by Weight

Sea freight charges on cubic metres or tonnes, whichever is higher. Footwear almost always lands on volume, because a carton of sneakers fills the container long before it approaches a weight limit. Two shipments of the same tonnage can cost very different amounts if one is packed in tall boxes with air in them.

The lever is carton geometry, not negotiation. Reducing a carton by five centimetres in height changes the volumetric charge across the whole shipment, and it costs nothing at the factory if the specification is set before production.

We ask for carton length, width, height and pairs per carton before quoting. Without those four numbers, a footwear quote is only a guess at the space the goods will occupy.

What Moves and How It Packs

Mixed size runs

A retail order is rarely one size. Cartons that mix sizes need a size ratio on the outside, because a Manila warehouse will not open every carton to find the missing size 42. We ask for the ratio printed on two sides and recorded on the packing list.

Boxed versus polybagged

Shoeboxes protect the product and consume volume. Importers selling online often ship polybagged and assemble the box locally, which cuts freight but shifts the risk to the retailer. Both work, but the choice should be made once and applied consistently.

Branded goods

Counterfeit risk sits with the importer, not the forwarder. If a shipment carries a brand, keep the authorisation letter with the invoice. Customs can hold a container on suspicion alone, and the paperwork that resolves it must exist before the ship sails.

The Documents That Slow Footwear Down

Footwear invoices fail for a predictable reason: they describe goods as shoes and give a total price. A classification officer needs material, upper type and use. Leather, rubber, textile and plastic uppers do not share a tariff line, and a mixed carton of two materials needs two lines, not one.

We build the invoice from your order sheet: model, upper material, pairs per carton, unit value. Where a small sample order sits near the threshold in our Philippines BOC de minimis rules 2026 note, we check it before booking rather than at arrival.

How the Shipment Moves

  1. Collection. Pickup in Jinjiang, Guangzhou or Dongguan, with a carton count and size check at the warehouse.
  2. Export. Booking, container loading or LCL handover, and export declaration.
  3. Clearance. Duty and VAT assessed on the declared value, then release to our broker.
  4. Delivery. Trucked to your warehouse, mall stockroom or e-commerce fulfilment site.

The document handover at each step is set out on our service flowchart.

Why Shippers Choose Sunny Worldwide Logistics

Footwear importers usually come to us with one of two problems: a carton specification that wastes half a container, or an invoice that will not classify cleanly. We fix the first at quotation and the second before loading, which is cheaper than fixing either after the vessel has left.

For repeat buyers we keep the carton data and the invoice template on file, so the second order is priced from facts rather than a fresh description. Most of this traffic lands in Manila and moves to Cavite, Laguna and Bulacan; the corridor is covered on the China to Manila route page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is air freight ever cheaper for shoes?

Rarely for bulk, sometimes for a launch. Air is priced on chargeable weight, and footwear is light, so air costs far more per pair than sea. It makes sense only when the retail margin depends on arriving first.

Can you ship mixed brands in one container?

Yes, but the invoice must separate them and each brand needs its authorisation on file. A combined container with unclear ownership of the marks is the fastest way to a hold.

Who handles the size ratio if my supplier packs badly?

We check the ratio marked on cartons against the packing list before loading. If it does not match, we flag it at the warehouse while the factory can still correct it, rather than in Manila when the cartons are already open.

Send your carton dimensions and order sheet through our contact page and we will price the shipment on the space it actually occupies.
