Recently, CMA CGM announced on its website that it will impose a new peak season surcharge (PSS) on cargo from China to Africa. Details are as follows:
Effective May 20, 2024 (date of loading), PSS of US $1,500 /TEU will be imposed on dry cargoes from North and Central China to the northern mountains of West Africa (Liberia, Senegal, Mauritania, Gambia, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Guinea-Bissau, Cape Verde, SAO Tome and Principe).LCL FCL shipping

Effective May 18, 2024 (loading date), a PSS of US $1,250 /TEU will be imposed on dry cargoes from South China to the Central Mountains of West Africa (Nigeria, Cote d 'Ivoire, Benin, Ghana, Togo, Equatorial Guinea).
From May 20, 2024 (loading date), dry cargo from Central and North China to the Central Mountains of West Africa (Nigeria, Cote d 'Ivoire, Benin, Ghana, Togo, Equatorial Guinea) will be subject to PSS of USD 1,250 /TEU;
PSS of US $1,250 /TEU is imposed on dry goods from the whole area of China to the mountains of southern West Africa (Angola, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Namibia, Gabon, Cameroon).
Effective May 20, 2024 (date of loading), PSS of US $1,000 per 20 feet and US $2,000 per 40 feet will be imposed on dry, refrigerated, over-limited and bulk cargoes from the Far East (Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau, China) to Kenya, Tanzania (Dar es Salaam) and South Africa.
A PSS of US $500 per 20 feet and US $1,000 per 40 feet will be imposed on dry, refrigerated, over-limit and bulk cargoes from the Far East (Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau, China) to Mozambique.
In addition, CMA CGM will impose a PSS of US $300 /TEU for dry, refrigerated, over-limit and bulk cargoes from the Far East (North, Central, South China, Hong Kong, Northeast and Southeast Asia) to the Maldives from 15 May 2024 (loading date).
