Cheapest Way to Ship 10kg to Philippines | China DDP Air and LCL Compared
Sunny Worldwide Logistics runs consolidated air and LCL sea freight from China to the Philippines on DDP terms. Chargeable weight, not the 10kg on the scale, decides your cost — and below the PHP 10,000 de minimis value, no duties and taxes are collected at all. Each inquiry gets three options.
Search for the cheapest way to ship 10kg to the Philippines and you will get a page of per-kilogram rates that look comparable and are not. One excludes destination charges. One quotes a minimum that only applies from a full cubic metre. None tells you which weight it used.
On a 10kg shipment, freight is often the smaller half of the invoice. Documentation, clearance and the final delivery to a residential address in Metro Manila can rival the transport charge — which is why the lowest rate and the lowest total are frequently different numbers.
Sunny Worldwide Logistics has moved cargo on the China–Philippines lane for more than 20 years. We would rather show you the arithmetic than hand you a rate and let the rest arrive as an invoice.
Chargeable Weight: The Number That Decides a 10kg Quote
Air and courier pricing runs on chargeable weight — the greater of the actual weight on the scale and the volumetric weight calculated from the carton dimensions. A 10kg carton of phone cases and a 10kg carton of lamp shades weigh the same on a scale and occupy wildly different space in a hold.
The divisor used to convert volume into kilos depends on the mode, and it is not the same for air cargo, express courier networks and sea LCL. LCL adds another layer: it prices per cubic metre against a per-shipment minimum, so a 10kg parcel is billed for space it never fills.
Before you compare two quotations, ask three questions:
- Which weight was billed — actual or volumetric?
- Which divisor was applied?
- What minimum shipment charge sits underneath the rate?
If the answer to any of those is missing, the two rates are not comparable. This is also why "is 10kg cheaper by air or sea" cannot be answered from the weight alone. It depends on what the 10kg is.

Air, LCL Sea or Courier: Which Is Cheapest at 10kg
Air Consolidation — Usually the Answer for Dense Small Cargo
Accessories, spare parts, samples and small electronics are heavy for their size, so volumetric weight stays close to actual weight and you pay for kilos rather than air. Your cartons share a consignment with other shippers' cargo and fly out of Shenzhen or Guangzhou on the next available uplift. Transit runs 3 to 5 working days door to door.
LCL Sea Freight — When the Volume Earns It
Bulky but light cargo — packaging material, display units, bulky plastic housings, textiles — is the case where sea wins. If your volume already exceeds the LCL minimum, the per-cubic-metre rate is far kinder than a per-kilo air rate. Sea freight runs about 15 days door to door to Manila and about 25 days to Cebu or Davao.
Express Courier — Right for One Parcel, Wrong for a Habit
A single sample or a document pack that must land in days is what courier networks are built for. Two cautions. First, check who is billed for duties and taxes: on services billed to the receiver, an apparently cheap rate can turn into a collection at the doorstep. Second, check the volumetric divisor — parcel networks often use a more aggressive one than air cargo does, which changes the billed weight on a light carton.

How a 10kg Shipment Moves, and Where the Money Goes
Collection and Consolidation
We collect from your supplier with our own trucking fleet at the Shenzhen and Guangzhou ports, then consolidate at our warehouse against your packing list. You can see what we received in our dedicated warehouse system rather than waiting for a status email. The sequence is on our service flow page.
Export and the Air Leg
Export declaration is filed against the commercial invoice and packing list, and the consignment joins the next consolidated uplift. This is the part of the invoice most rate sheets show, and it is the part they compete on.
Clearing Philippine Customs
Here is where a cheap quote usually stops. Duties, VAT and brokerage are assessed on arrival unless the shipment qualifies for relief — and small parcels often do. Under Section 423 of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act, no duties and taxes are collected on goods with an FOB or FCA value of PHP 10,000 or below. Commercial goods below PHP 50,000 in FOB or FCA value are also processed under the informal entry route rather than formal entry, which is a lighter documentary path. We set out how that works in our guide to the Philippines BOC de minimis rules.
Delivery
On arrival we clear the shipment, pay the assessed duties and taxes where they apply, and deliver, with clearance typically running 1 to 2 days ahead of the industry average. Delivery is free within 30km of the Metro or downtown area. If your consignment is going further out, or to a building without a loading dock, say so at quotation stage — a redelivery is a cost nobody budgets for.
Under our DDP terms, one price covers the whole of that chain: pickup, export, freight, clearance, duties and taxes, and delivery. That is the point. On a 10kg shipment the Philippines-side charges are not a rounding error, and a DDP figure is the only one you can compare without adding four unknowns. Our Manila DDP shipping service is quoted that way.
Why Shippers Send Small Parcels Through Sunny Worldwide Logistics
We own the first mile. Our own trucking fleet operates at the Shenzhen and Guangzhou ports, so a 10kg collection is not subcontracted to whoever answers the phone that morning.
More than 20 years on this lane. Two decades of Philippine import rule changes have already been absorbed. We flag a clearance or valuation issue at quotation stage rather than at the port.
Credentials you can check. NVOCC and FMC registered, and members of the Worldwide Cargo Alliance, CIFA, JCTRANS, WIFFA, FUDA, SZSSA and OLO.
Options, not a single price. Every inquiry gets at least three routing or consolidation options, designed to save clients at least 5% against their current arrangement — including telling you when air is the cheaper answer and when it is not.
You can see where the parcel is. Our dedicated warehouse system shows inventory and shipment records as they move, which matters more on a small shipment than a large one, because a lost 10kg carton has no spare.
We take care of the cargo more than the owner does — on a small parcel, that means charging for the kilos you actually ship.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is air or sea cheaper for 10kg to the Philippines?
Air consolidation, in most cases, because LCL prices per cubic metre against a per-shipment minimum that a 10kg parcel cannot reach. Sea becomes the cheaper answer when the cargo is bulky for its weight and the volume already justifies the minimum.
Are Philippine duties and taxes included in your price?
Yes. Our DDP rate covers clearance, the assessed duties and taxes, and delivery. Separately, goods with an FOB or FCA value of PHP 10,000 or below are not subject to duties and taxes at all under Section 423 of the CMTA — so on a low-value parcel the tax line may simply not arise.
How long does 10kg take to reach Manila?
Air freight runs 3 to 5 working days door to door. Sea freight runs about 15 days to Manila and about 25 days to Cebu or Davao.
Send us the carton dimensions, the gross weight and the declared value, and you will get a DDP figure and an air-versus-sea comparison for the same cargo. Contact Sunny Worldwide Logistics — or start from our air freight China to Philippines lane if the parcel is urgent.
