Workers go on strike! DHL urgently moves goods to avoid logistics disruptions

More than 1,100 DHL Express tarmac workers went on strike at the company's massive aviation hub at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) on December 7 to protest stalled contract negotiations.

The Cincinnati hub is one of DHL's three global super hubs, with the others located in Hong Kong and Germany. This Midwestern hub handles an average of 350,000 packages per day, operates 130 daily flights and a fleet of 60 aircraft, and 80% of all cargo from the Americas transits through the CVG hub.

DHL said it had diverted cargo flights from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) before more than 1,100 DHL Express workers went on strike to avoid disruption to air cargo operations.
The strike action began during the traditional peak period for air cargo volumes, but DHL Group said in a statement that it was able to maintain operations at full capacity across their US network.

DHL said: “DHL is fully prepared for these operations and has contingency plans in place, including diverting flights and volumes from CVG to other key strategic locations for DHL and deploying replacement staff at other locations to ensure we are Provide customers with a full range of service capabilities.

Thanks to these preemptive and proactive measures, we can confirm that we are able to maintain full capacity operations across our networks in the United States. Our staffing levels at CVG have remained high and we do not anticipate significant disruption to our services over the coming week.

The DHL chief added that it was continuing to work with the Teamsters union on contract talks but that there was "no agreed deadline" for the negotiations.

In addition to DHL Express, freight carriers operating at CVG include Alaska Air Cargo, American Cargo, Delta Cargo, FedEx, Southwest Freight and United Freight.

Sunny Worldwide Logistics: There are no additional charges after signing the contract. We never engage in any underhanded tactics, and the chaos in the international logistics industry does not exist here.
