On May 4, HMM's official website issued a notice stating that starting from June 1, 2023, freight rates will be adjusted for all services from the port of origin to the United States, Canada and Mexico. The specific prices are as follows:

USD 900 per 20

USD 1000 per 40

USD 1125 per HC

USD 1266 per 45

On the same day, HMM informed that from June 1, 2023 to the end of the month, all cargo bunker surcharges (BUC) to the United States, Mexico and Canada will be adjusted as follows:

In addition to the HMM shipping company, Hapag-Lloyd also issued a notice on May 4 stating that due to the lower-than-normal water level of Gatun Lake, severe draft restrictions have been imposed on ships passing through the Panama Canal. As a result, the Panama Canal Surcharge (PCC) will be imposed on all cargo shipped from East Asia to North America from June 1, 2023. Fee details are as follows:

Geographical scope:East Asia to North America

All containers:0 per container

From East Asia:Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia and the Philippines

Traveling to North America:America / Canada

Hapag-Lloyd said that since the East Coast EC1, EC2 and EC6 ring routes will be affected by this charge, it is recommended to consider the East Coast EC4 and EC5 ring routes and the Asia-USEC AA7 route.
